Onuma Quasi-National Park

Onuma Quasi-National Park Hokkaido

Located only 20 kilometers north of Hakodate, Onuma Quasi-National Park is known for its picturesque, island dotted lakes in the shadow of  the volcano, Mount Komagatake. The park covers an area of 90.83 square kilometres. The park's most attractive area is located between the two lakes Onuma (large lake) and Konuma (small lake) and can be explored entirely on foot. Attractive walking courses let you explore the lakes' peninsulas and islands, several of which are connected with each other by small bridges, in easy 15-60 minute walks.

There are sightseeing boat tours that depart every 40 minutes from near JR Onuma Koen station and last for about 30 minutes. Bicycles can also be hired for those wishing to enjoy some exercise while taking in the beautiful lake scenery.

The park's aspect changes with the seasons but looks especially attractive in Autumn.
